Tehran OTT Release: Those who intended to see the action thriller on a large screen were disappointed when the film's producers revealed that Tehran will be released directly to streaming services instead of theaters. The world premiere of Maddock Films' geopolitical spy thriller Tehran, which stars Madhurima Tuli, Neeru Bajwa, Manushi Chhillar, and John Abraham, is scheduled for this month.

Tehran, a fictitious rendition based on real events, tells the story of a man who is sought by Iran, discarded by Israel, and abandoned by India. The film, which was directed by Arun Gopalan, is set against the backdrop of the ongoing international tension between Iran and Israel. It delves into the murky realm of global espionage, where the loyalty of one man could determine if a betrayal or loyalty occurs.

About Tehran Movie

As ACP Rajeev Kumar (John Abraham) gets drawn into a clandestine operation spanning continents, ideologies, and broken connections, morality starts to become hazy. Could Rajeev be a rogue officer acting independently, or is he India's greatest patriot, quietly influencing the country's future from the shadows?

John Abraham stated in a recent interview that the movie would not have been able to get a CBFC certificate to be screened in theaters. He talked candidly with Rajdeep Sardesai of India Today about censorship and the difficulties it presents for filmmakers. John discussed the difficulties he encountered in obtaining his film and the difficulties filmmakers encounter in balancing political sensitivity with their artistic vision.

He expressed gratitude, "I don't think this film (Tehran) would've passed to be shown in theatres, to be very honest. I'm grateful to the Ministry of External Affairs."

John Abraham stated that censorship is necessary but that the way it is being managed raises serious concerns, implying a balance between artistic expression and governmental control, when asked if he would rather have no censor board at all or very little.

He said, "Till now, they’ve been good and kind with us, and I’ve been responsible with the way I’ve made and spoken in my films. For the record, I’m not right-wing, I’m not left-wing - I’m apolitical, but politically aware. And it’s important for me to make an honest statement."
