On Sunday, Netflix India unveiled the OTT update for The Girlfriend on its Instagram account, along with a new poster, featuring the lead cast, Rashmika. The Girlfriend will be released on Netflix starting December 5. The Telugu romantic drama will be available in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. The post of streamer read, "Meet Bhooma Devi, The Girlfriend MA Literature. Watch The Girlfriend on Netflix out 5 December."

The Girlfriend follows the story of a young woman who explores love, compatibility and self-discovery during her college years. Bhooma Devi, played by Rashmika Mandanna, a MA Literature student, falls in love with a college student, Vikram (Dheekshith). She soon finds herself trapped in a toxic relationship from which she cannot escape. Rahul Ravindran's distinctive narrative beautifully presents college life and shows how budding romance can turn toxic. The Girlfriend is produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment, Mass Movie Makers, and Geetha Arts. It also features Anu Emmanuel, Rohini and Rao Ramesh in pivotal roles.

The Girlfriend Box Office Collection And Budget

According to Sacnilk report, The Girlfriend had an average performance at the box office upon its release. The film collected Rs 18.56 crore in India and Rs 28.94 crore worldwide. The film is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 42 crore.
