Model and reality TV star Poonam Pandey recently declared on Instagram that she is alive. This announcement followed a statement from the model's manager claiming that she had died of cervical cancer. "I am alive. I did not die of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives due to cervical cancer." While this publicity stunt for cancer awareness has drawn criticism, her husband Sam Bombay expressed his happiness about her being alive.

Talking to HT, Sam also clarified that he and Poonam are still legally married. When asked if he was surprised that Poonam faked her own death, Sam Bombay said, "No. I'm delighted she did. She is alive. That's enough for me. Alhamdullilah."

Although, many at first did not believe the news of Poonam's demise, her manager provided double confirmation to various publications that the actress had died due to cervical cancer. Reacting to this, Sam said, "When I heard the news, I felt nothing in my heart. There was no sense of loss. And I thought this can't be. Why do I feel nothing? Because when you're connected, you feel everything. I think about her (Poonam Pandey) every day. And, I pray for her every day. If something was wrong, I'd know."

The news of Poonam's death created a sensation on social media, leading to numerous celebrities expressing condolences. However, it was later revealed to be a publicity stunt. She released a video statement on Saturday morning to confirm that she is alive. In the video, she explained that the purpose behind the false news of her death was to raise awareness about cervical cancer.

Poonam took to her Instagram and said, "I am alive. I did not die because of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer. It is not because they couldn’t do anything about it but because they had no idea what to do about it. I am here to tell you that, unlike other cancers, cervical cancer is preventable. All you have to do is, you have to get your tests done and you have to get HPV vaccine."
