Priyanka Chopra had to begin as a newcomer in different stages of her life when moving to new places. As a teenager, she went to high school in the US, then relocated to Mumbai after entering Bollywood, and in 2015, she moved once more to the US after being offered the lead role in the American television show Quantico. Now the actor has opened up about struggling with low self-confidence and how she had to re-teach herself to remain positive.

After her father's death in 2013 due to cancer, the actor went through an extended period of grieving. In 2016, while residing in New York and working on Quantico, Priyanka experienced a bleak phase in her life where she felt lonely and sad, away from her loved ones. However, the actor revealed that her ability to adapt to new environments as an outsider enabled her to eventually overcome this phase.

During an interview with Hoda Kotb from the Today Show, Priyanka discussed how she learned to handle difficult situations in life and revealed that she taught herself to be her own motivator during difficult phases, which helped her cope with challenging circumstances.

"I think in different phases of my life, I kind of taught myself or learned how to be my own hype girl. And it helped me navigate many crazy situations," she said.

Apeaking about her time in New York, she added, "I've thought about that phase in my life a lot. And my body needed to mourn, my heart needed to mourn, and yeah, you know, I needed pizzas to do it. I allowed myself to do that…pizza and a bottle of wine and a shitty movie. I reached a point where I knew that bottom had been hit. And now, the only way was up."

Priyanka Chopra is currently busy promoting her new show Citadel on Prime Video alongside Richard Madden. The series has already had premieres in London, Rome, and Los Angeles.
