The first season of Raj & DK’s The Family Man was a big hit and became one of the most loved shows on OTT. From action sequences to Srikant Tiwari’s wit and how he balances his personal and professional lives, several things were key factors for the popularity of the show. One of the things which generated curiosity among the fans was Priyamani’s character Suchi leaving for Lonavala for a work trip with her colleague Arvind. It was not revealed what happened between the two in a hotel room at night. It wasn’t revealed in the second season as well. As the third season is approaching, Raj Nidimoru reacted to the memes about what happened in Lonavala that night.
While reacting to reacts to how ‘Lonavala mein kya hua tha?’ memes, Raj Nidimoru told News18, “It became bigger than what we had intended and thought. It became so big at the end of season one – almost like the ‘Katappa ne Baahubali ko kyun maara’ question (laughs).”
He also answered why he didn’t reveal it in the second season as well, Raj added, “We didn’t want to treat Suchi as the wife of a specific character, who shouldn’t be doing any of this. We didn’t want to assign her a task just at home or label her. She isn’t a character without opinions, desires or ambition. We went with her story wherever it took us.”

“We didn’t necessarily think that somebody’s wife shouldn’t do these things. That’s the reason we didn’t dwell on Lonavala at all. She found this person who was actually listening to her and she was making moves in her career. It would’ve been exploitative and salacious if we were to dwell on what happened in Lonavala if it happened at all. That was out of scope of the spotlight on her. That’s why we made a conscious choice to not talk about it,” he added.

The filmmaker added, “We thought ki rehne dete hai. Let her do her own thing. We only wanted the audience to sympathise and empathise with her situation. We didn’t feel the need to explicitly explain anything. As Srikant goes about his life, who does Suchi go to talk about? She needs companionship. She needs somebody to understand her and listen to her. Who’s her companion, her friend at the end of it? Not Srikant.”
“We were looking at her as a person. She’s driven, has a passion and wants to do well at her job. We wanted to focus on that and that’s something we rarely get to put a light on because the entire show is made on this amazing character named Srikant,” Raj concluded.
