Rebel On OTT: The directorial debut of Nikesh RS hit theaters on March 22nd, starring GV Prakash Kumar in a political action role, with Mamitha Baiju as the female lead. The film's trailer suggests a storyline set in a college located in Chittur, Palakkad. It follows Kadhir (played by GV Prakash), one of the few Tamil students among a predominantly Malayali student body, who falls in love with Mamitha's character. Initially peaceful, the atmosphere is disrupted by sudden violence between the Malayali and Tamil communities.

As tensions escalate, Kadhir emerges as a 'rebel,' advocating for his Tamil counterparts and seeking justice. However, unlike many theatrical releases that take a month or longer to debut on streaming platforms, Rebel is now available for streaming on Prime Video just two weeks after its theatrical release.

When and where to watch Rebel?

Available exclusively on Prime Video, Rebel is now streaming in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada across India and in over 240 countries and territories worldwide. The early release on OTT platforms has surprised many movie enthusiasts. Some express concern that if such practices continue, there may be a decline in people's interest in going to theaters.

About Rebel

Taking place in the 1980s, Rebel centers on college student factions associated with political parties. Upon Kathir (G V Prakash) and Selvaraj (Adhithya Bhaskar) from a Munnar town enrolling in Palakkad's same college, they uncover the substantial impact of politics on students' lives within the institution. This discovery leads to a story of rebellion and retaliation that drives the film's narrative.

The impressive ensemble cast of Rebel includes Venkitesh VP, Shalu Rahim, Karunas, Adhithya Baskar, Kalloori Vinoth, Subramaniya Siva, and other talented actors. Regarding its technical aspects, the film showcases cinematography by Arun Radhakrishnan and editing by Vetre Krishnan. Additionally, in addition to his acting role, GV Prakash has composed the music for the film. The production efforts were led by KE Gnanavelraja, with co-production managed by Neha Gnanavelraja under their Studio Green banner.
