New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Ever since her Bollywood debut, Taapsee Pannu has proved that she has the ‘act’ in ‘actor’ and looking at her choice of films, Taapsee can clearly give all her contemporaries actress’ a run for their money. Hailed for her versatile acting in her last few releases including Badla, Soorma and Manmarziyaan, Taapsee is one actress who filmmakers have been constantly eyeing to rope in.

Now, Taapsee Pannu is all set to play an athlete in her upcoming movie Rashmi Rocket. The film is about an incredibly fast runner, Rashmi, who hails from Kutch, and the villagers fondly call her Rocket. But when she gets a chance to showcase her talent professionally, she realises that the journey has many hurdles. Her quest turns into her personal battle for respect, honour, and her identity.

Directed by Akarsh Khurana, this is a fictional narrative and not based on any real sports personality.

The production house took to social media on Thursday to unveil her look one picture at a time. They revealed the name of Taapsee's protagonist to be Rashmi in a series of tweets.

Taapsee has been quoted saying, "This story instantly hit the right chord when I heard the idea. It's one of those few films I was waiting to be developed into a script for me to do. Funnily, I have been made to run in almost every film I've done in every other genre. But this time, it's going to be an out-and-out athlete's tale. What excited me the most was the human drama that unfolds in her life, which makes it much more than a regular story of an athlete."

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, on Friday also shared a motion poster of the film on his Instagram handle and captioned it “This ROCKET is set for her next MISSION and she's off to the tracks! Presenting a glimpse of @taapsee in and as #RashmiRocket. Music for the motion poster”.

Taapsee will next be seen in Tadka which is a rom-com film, directed by Prakash Raj with Nana Patekar, Shriya Saran, and Ali Fazal. The film is the remake of Malayalam film Salt N Pepper of 2011. Further, Taapsee Pannu will appear with Bhumi Pednekar in biographical film Saand Ki Aankh. The film is based on the life of sharpshooters Prakashi Tomar and Chandro and will hit the screens this Diwali.
