Amid the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, former co-stars in the 2016 film Sanam Teri Kasam, Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane got into a war of words. The controversy erupted after Rane refused to be part of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 following the Pakistani actress’s condemnation of India’s attack on Pakistan. Mawra criticised Harshvardhan’s exit from the sequel of Sanam Teri Kasam and label it a PR strategy. Now, the actor reacted to the Hocane’s remark. Harshvardhan stated that Mawra made some personal attacks on him and said that there is so much hate in her speech.
On Sunday, Harshvardhan Rane took to his Instagram stories and wrote, “That sounded like an attempt at personal attack. Fortunately, I have tolerance to overlook such attempts - but have zero tolerance for any attack on my nation's dignity. An Indian farmer would pluck out the unwanted weed from his crop its called WEEDING, the farmer doesnt need a PR team for this act, its called common sense. I simply offered to step down from Part 2. I am fully within my rights to choose not to work with individuals who label my country's actions as 'cowardly’.”
“So much hate in her speech, so many personal remarks. I never mentioned her name or resorted to calling her names. Didn't attack her dignity as a woman. I intend to maintain that standard,” he concluded.

Earlier in a post, Harshvardhan refused to be part of Sanam Teri Kasam. He wrote “While I am grateful for the experience however as things stand, and after reading the direct comments made about my country, I have made a decision to respectfully decline to be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam part 2 if there is any possibility of the previous cast being repeated. Harshvardhan Rane, 10-5-25.” His statement came after Mawra Hocane criticised India’s Operation Sindoor and called it a ‘cowardly’ attack. India launched Operation Sindoor on terror sites of Pakistan and Pok in avenge for the Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of at least 26 tourists. After India’s operation, Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks, which were intercepted by the Indian defence systems.
