Sonu Sood and Kangana Ranaut's ongoing conflict first began in 2019 while Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi was being made. Their professional and personal relationships were impacted by the tensions that have arisen since Sonu Sood's unexpected departure from the movie.
Sonu Sood reportedly left the movie in the middle due to creative disputes with Kangana. He was replaced in the movie by Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub.
Sonu Sood, who ventured into direction with his much-awaited movie Fateh, recently disclosed in an interview that he hasn't spoken to Kangana Ranaut since that event. "I left Manikarnika also because Kangana is my friend. We are not on talking terms right now, but I have been very close with her family – her mother, father and sister meet me very lovingly. I have a rule in life that if I have ever been close to someone or friends with them, more or less, if I have a problem, I will never speak against them, " Sonu said, speaking to Shubhankar Mishra on his podcast.
Kangana, according to Sonu Sood, was a close friend. It's her foolishness, she is not a bad person, he believed. "People can say whatever they want, but I will never say anything against them. I might feel upset thinking, 'This person was a good friend and said such things.' I feel that it's her foolishness, she is not a bad person. But sometimes, when you write or say things, you don't actually think it through. I might have also gone through this and done things out of being naive. However, there is no regret. It's her own thinking, I prefer not to pay heed by answering," he added.

Kangana Ranaut directed her first movie alone with Emergency. The actress and Krish Jagarlamudi shared directorial credits for Manikarnika.
India's political history during the Emergency era is the main emphasis of the film, which is about former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It was criticized and has legal problems. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) first delayed its distribution due to censorship issues, and the Shiromani Akali Dal objected, saying it might cause communal tensions.
