As The First Frost wrapped up its heartwarming journey, Bai Jingting and Zhang Ruonan bid farewell to their beloved characters, Sang Yan and Wen Yifan, with touching final posts on Weibo — leaving fans overwhelmed with emotions.

The spin-off of the widely adored Hidden Love took viewers through 32 episodes of love, pain, growth and healing. Now, with the story reaching a beautiful conclusion, Sang Yan and Wen Yifan's heartfelt messages felt like a personal goodbye to the audience who watched them find their way back to each other.

Bai Jingting, posting as Sang Yan, shared a tender reflection on their journey together. He recalled the "overtime wishing tree," where they received countless blessings from fans — some hoping for a shared home, some wishing for a baby soon, and others simply rooting for their happiness.

“Looking back on this journey, it was long and short,” he wrote. “The time of separation has left no memories in my mind, but I always remember every second she was by my side very clearly. Step by step, until now, I always have new strength in loving her.”

He thanked fans for witnessing their story, cheering them on, and expressed his wish that everyone finds their own happiness — just like he did with Wen Yifan.

Ending his post with a warm, almost domestic touch, he signed off: "I'm going to pick her up from get off work, bye."

This small, everyday gesture perfectly captured the essence of Sang Yan — a man who found joy in the simplest moments of loving Wen Yifan.

Zhang Ruonan, as Wen Yifan, penned an emotional, vulnerable goodbye — reflecting on her growth from a woman burdened by her past to someone ready to embrace happiness.

“I haven’t submitted an article for a long time. Today may be the last time I submit one to you,” she began, acknowledging the strength she drew from fans' replies to the ‘tree hole’ — a space where they shared encouragement with her throughout the show.

“I want to share good news with you. I haven’t sleepwalked for a long time, and I am getting married.”

For a character who battled emotional scars and sleepwalking, this moment symbolized more than just happiness — it was her freedom from past pain.

“I don’t know what to say specifically, because this kind of down-to-earth happiness is a bit unfamiliar to me, but I will try my best to grasp happiness and run towards it!” she wrote, promising to build a future alongside Sang Yan.

She ended with a message to her past self — and to fans who resonated with her journey:

"Hold on a little longer, the future must be beautiful."

The emotional weight of these farewell posts hit fans hard. Many expressed how they wished they could continue witnessing Sang Yan and Wen Yifan’s life together — beyond the finale.

One fan heartbreakingly wrote, "They are about to live the rest of their lives together happily and I WON’T BE ABLE TO WITNESS IT. I WANT TO DO SOMETHING SO DRASTIC!"
