'The First Omen' is part of The Omen film series, which originated with the 1976 classic and was later remade in 2006. Over the years, the series has produced three sequels, all exploring themes of demons and the Antichrist. 'The First Omen' marks the return of the franchise after the 2006 remake, promising to delve deeper into its eerie mythology.
What sets 'The First Omen' apart is its emphasis on religious themes. While the original film focused on a young boy named Damien believed to be the Antichrist, set in a typical family home, this prequel shifts the setting to an Italian convent. The juxtaposition of religious devotion with the intrusion of sinister Satanic forces adds an intriguing layer to the story, promising a unique and gripping narrative.
'The First Omen' features Nell Tiger Free, Tawkeef Barhom, Sonia Braga, Ralph Ineson and Bill Nighy. The film is directed by Arkasha Stevenson, based on characters created by David Seltzer, with a story by Ben Jacoby and a screenplay by Tim Smith & Arkasha Stevenson and Keith Thomas. David S. Goyer and Keith Levine produce the film, with Tim Smith, Whitney Brown, and Gracie Wheelan serving as executive producers.
