Urvashi Rautela is celebrating the success of the Telugu action drama Daaku Maharaaj, which features Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role. However, amid the film’s success, controversy has followed her since the release of the song Dabidi Dibidi, which sparked backlash on social media. Audiences have also criticized her character in the movie, calling it overly sexualized. In the movie, she plays a cop and her appearance in yoga wear in one particular scene drew mixed reactions. Addressing the controversy, Urvashi shared her thoughts and emphasized that actors cannot question a director’s vision after signing a film.

Urvashi Rautela spoke about the reactions to her character’s portrayal in Daaku Maharaaj during a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India. She said, “My stance is that when I sign a film, I trust and believe in my director. A character’s role is part of the story’s narrative, and as actors, we shouldn’t interfere too much or dictate how a character should be portrayed. Once we sign a film, we cannot question the director’s vision.”

Thaman S directed Daaku Maharaaj with a distinct creative vision. Further explaining her perspective, Urvashi stated, “Filmmaking isn’t just about my perspective; the director is the captain of the ship. Their decision matters the most. A director deserves creative freedom, and as an actor, I respect that.”

While discussing the dance moves in the song Dabidi Dibidi, where she appears alongside Nandamuri Balakrishna, Urvashi addressed the controversy surrounding its choreography. She firmly believes the choreography has nothing inappropriate. “When you talk about my choreography, it’s actually very simple. There’s nothing wrong with it. In fact, if you just focus on me in the frame, you’ll see that it’s really fantastic. I always ensure my identity remains separate from my work. It’s important to receive feedback wholeheartedly and not let it overshadow my passion and commitment to my craft,” she added.
