Vettaiyan Box Office Collection Day 1: TJ Gnanavel’s film, starring Rajinikanth, Fahadh Faasil and Amitabh Bachchan, has made a strong debut with an impressive opening of ₹30 crore across India on its first day. Released on October 10, this highly anticipated film recorded the second-largest opening for a Tamil film in 2024, although it fell short of surpassing Thalapathy Vijay's 'The Greatest of All Time' (GOAT). While Vettaiyan recorded ₹30 crore (nett) on its opening day, GOAT earned around ₹44 crore (nett) in India on the same day.
According to early trade reports, Vettaiyan is expected to see an increase in numbers over the next three days, taking advantage of the Dussehra holidays. Produced by Lyca Productions, Vettaiyan also features Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, and Ritika Singh in pivotal roles.

Vettaiyan achieved approximately ₹30 crore net in India on its opening day across all languages (early estimates). The breakdown for Day 1 [1st Thursday] is as follows: ₹30 crore total (Tamil: ₹26.15 crore; Telugu: ₹3.2 crore; Hindi: ₹0.6 crore; Kannada: ₹0.05 crore). The film registered impressive occupancy rates, particularly in the Tamil sector with 59.43%, while the Telugu sector followed with 37.66%. However, occupancy was lower in the Hindi and Kannada markets, recording 8.98% and 10.79%, respectively, according to Sacnilk.com.
About Vettaiyan
The film centers on Sharanya (Dushara Vijayan), a government school teacher in Kanyakumari, who uncovers the drug trade operating near her school. The case is taken up by Kanyakumari SP Athiyan (Rajinikanth), known for his controversial encounter killings. He apprehends the drug lord and dispenses 'justice; through an encounter, but this is merely the start of a much larger scandal. The screenplay is co-written by Gnanavel and B. Kiruthika.
Produced by Sun Pictures, the film features music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The technical team includes cinematographer S.R. Kathir and editor Philomin Raj.
