Vettaiyan Box Office Collection Day 13: Rajinikanth's investigative action drama experienced a gradual decline in earnings during its first week, followed by second. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan premiered in theaters on October 10 and crossed the ₹100 crore mark during its extended four-day opening weekend. However, ticket sales fell sharply as the weekdays continued, leading to ongoing difficulties at ticket windows.
Despite a strong opening, Vettaiyan, also featuring Amitabh Bachchan, has faced challenges at the box office.

About Vettaiyan
Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah’s Lyca Productions, Vettaiyan also stars Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan and Ritika Singh. It follows a government school teacher who uncovers a drug trade, prompting an investigation by a police officer known for his unconventional methods. As the officer investigates further, he reveals a complex web of additional crimes linked to the drug trade.
The makers of Vettaiyan are considering a prequel to the film. In a recent media interaction in Hyderabad, director Gnanavel shared his profound interest in the topic of police encounter killings and his desire to explore it further in the prequel. He expressed his intention to delve into Athiyan's journey, adding depth to the existing storyline. Gnanavel emphasised that the ethical implications of encounter killings—whether justified or fabricated—have always intrigued him.
After its theatrical run, the film will be available for streaming on Prime Video, which has acquired the digital rights for ₹90 crore. The streaming release date will be announced once the film's box office performance stabilises.
