Vettaiyan Box Office Collection Day 8: Directed by TJ Gnanavel and featuring Rajinikanth, the action drama was released in theaters on October 10. The film garnered just over ₹100 crore in India during its four-day extended opening weekend, but ticket sales declined significantly as the weekdays began, leading to ongoing struggles at the box office. Despite its strong start, the action crime drama, also starring Amitabh Bachchan, has faced challenges since entering its first weekdays. It will be intriguing to see if Rajinikanth's film can rebound from this slump.
Vettaiyan Box Office Report
In its first week, Vettaiyan earned ₹118.95 crore net in India and ₹208.85 crore gross worldwide, according to entertainment tracking portal Sacnilk. However, on its eighth day, the film experienced a significant drop in domestic earnings, bringing in approximately ₹3.15 crore net across all languages, with a total of ₹122.10 crore. On Thursday, October 17, 2024, the film had a Tamil occupancy rate of 16.79%, with morning shows at 13.94%, afternoon shows at 16.01%, evening shows at 18.27%, and night shows at 18.95%.
The Telugu occupancy for Vettaiyan The Hunter on the same day was 14.40%. The film stars an impressive cast, including Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan and Ritika Singh.

The film centers on a drug trade uncovered by a government school teacher, which leads to a police officer known for his unconventional investigative methods. As he delves deeper, he uncovers a web of additional crimes linked to the drug trade. Released in theaters on October 10, the movie is available in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu. Following its theatrical run, Vettaiyan will stream on Prime Video, which has acquired the digital rights for a substantial ₹90 crore. The release date will be announced after the film's successful box office performance.
Rajinikanth's next film after Vettaiyan is set to be Coolie, scheduled for release in 2025. This action thriller is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who has established the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) with films like Karthi's Kaithi, Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, and Suriya's Vikram, as well as Thalapathy Vijay's Leo. It has yet to be confirmed whether Coolie will be part of the LCU.
