A significant breakthrough has been achieved in the investigation into Zubeen Garg's death, with Singaporean authorities confirming India's request for legal assistance. Led by Special DGP M.P. Gupta, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is pursuing multiple leads related to Garg's final days in Singapore. The Attorney-General's Office of Singapore will review and decide on the request, bringing hope for a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the singer's death.

The SIT is intensifying its probe into overseas links. A second notice has been sent to 10 Singapore-based NRIs for questioning. The viscera report from CFSL has been handed over to a medical committee at Guwahati Medical College, which will prepare the final post-mortem report to determine the cause of death. “Once we receive the final post-mortem report, it will be submitted to the court,” said MP Gupta, Special DGP, Assam.

The CID team has arrested two of Zubeen Garg's personal security officers, bringing the total arrests to five. Those already in custody include Zubeen's cousin Sandipan Garg, manager Siddhartha Sharma, musician Shekharjyoti Goswami, singer Amritprava Mahanta, and Shyamkanu Mahanta. Over 60 FIRs were filed across the state, prompting the Assam CM to direct the DGP to consolidate the cases and hand over the investigation to the CID, which formed the SIT.

Zubeen Garg, 52, died on September 19 in Singapore while performing at the North East India Festival. His death, reportedly while swimming, has sparked speculation about foul play due to unanswered questions. The incident shocked Assam and the Assamese diaspora, triggering widespread grief and calls for a thorough investigation.
