Ayushman Bharat cardholders are returning disappointed from the Hriday Aarogya Kendra (Heart Wellness Centre) at the Sector-10 Civil Hospital, Gurugram, as services for them remain suspended for nearly five months. The centre, run under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, has not been offering treatment to Ayushman beneficiaries since June despite repeated efforts by the health department.

Hospital officials confirmed that payments to the implementing agency, Meditrina Hospital from Kerala, have been cleared up to September, and payment for October is in process. The hospital has once again written to the agency directing it to resume Ayushman services. However, when contacted, the centre in charge, Mandeep Singh, declined to comment, leaving the agency’s stance unclear.

The private organisation halted services to Ayushman patients earlier this year, citing pending dues from 2023-24. Since then, heart patients holding Ayushman cards have been struggling for treatment, even as beneficiaries under other government schemes, including BPL and SC/ST panels, continue to receive care free or at subsidised rates.

The Meditrina Heart Centre performs over 50 angioplasties every month and handles more than 24,000 patients annually, most of them from government-backed health schemes. The centre’s management claims its angioplasty charges are 50 per cent lower than those at PGI Rohtak, and OPD services are priced at Rs 116.

Civil Hospital PMO Dr Lokveer said payments have been released up to September, and the remaining dues will be cleared within a week. “We have again taken up the matter with the agency. We hope treatment for Ayushman beneficiaries will resume by the end of this month,” he said.
