In a bid to reduce congestion at Shankar Chowk, the Gurugram Traffic Police have introduced a new entry point to the expressway near the flyover before the junction. With this newly opened access, motorists can now directly enter the expressway and travel towards Delhi via the flyover, avoiding the busy stretch under Shankar Chowk.

ACP (Traffic Headquarters and Highway) Satyapal said the move follows a detailed survey conducted by the Traffic Engineering Wing. Earlier, a trial run on the Delhi-Jaipur route, which involved segregating vehicles into separate lanes, yielded positive results. Now, a similar trial is set to be initiated on the Jaipur-Delhi route.

Until now, there was no entry point to the expressway between IFFCO Chowk and Shankar Chowk, forcing drivers to pass under the congested Chowk and often getting stuck in long traffic queues. The new access is expected to significantly ease the load on Shankar Chowk and streamline the traffic flow towards Delhi.

Officials said the second phase of the trial will roll out in the coming days, after which the traffic situation at Shankar Chowk is expected to improve substantially.
