Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL) is set to remove the high-tension towers and lines from Ambience Mall to IFFCO Chowk, which obstructed the construction of the Delhi-Alwar Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor. A special proposal with an estimated cost of ₹65 crore has been prepared for the project.
HVPNL has sent this proposal to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which will now decide whether to issue a tender to a company for the removal of the lines and towers, or if the proposal will be given to HVPNL itself for the removal. Following this, the construction work on the semi-high-speed rail corridor, connecting the national capital with important centres in Haryana and Rajasthan, will gain momentum.
The first phase of the work will be from Delhi to Bawal. The RRTS was initially proposed to be constructed via the Delhi Road in the old city. Later, its route was changed to run alongside the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway.
On the national highway, high-tension towers and lines for several circuits are spread from IFFCO Chowk to Ambience Mall, with numerous lines running from the Sector-20 220 substation to the Sector-72 220 substation. Similarly, the towers and lines connecting the Udyog Vihar Phase-4 substation to another substation are also obstructing this project.
HVPNL has prepared the estimated cost proposal for removing the high-tension towers and lines. For shifting any such towers and lines, the electricity corporation provides an estimated cost and includes a supervision fee.
The department has both options. It can either assign the work to HVPNL and deposit the estimated cost with the electricity corporation, or it can carry out the work of shifting the towers and lines itself by awarding a tender to a company. For this, a supervision fee must be deposited with the electricity corporation.
The total estimated length of this entire project from Delhi to Alwar is approximately 164 kilometres. Starting from Sarai Kale Khan, it is planned to go to Alwar via Gurugram, Rewari, Neemrana, Shahjahanpur, and Behror.
In the city, its four stations are proposed at Cyber Hub, IFFCO Chowk, Rajiv Chowk, and Hero Honda Chowk. A total of 22 stations are proposed for the entire project. Of these, 17 will be elevated, and five stations will be built underground.
Project Highlights:
