As many as 11 persons were killed and 14 others injured after a bus burst into flames following a collision with a dumper truck in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna, news agency ANI reported quoting police sources.

The injured were admitted to Guna District Hospital. "A bus and a dumper collided in Guna. The bus overturned and caught fire. The fire has been brought under control," Vijay Kumar Khatri, Superintendent of Police (Guna) said.

Guna District Collector Tarun Rathi said their priority was to recover the dead bodies and ensure the recovery of the injured. "Around 14 people are admitted to the Guna District Hospital and 11 people are reportedly dead. Prima facie, a dumper and bus collided on the Guna-Aron route resulting in the bus catching fire. Our priority is to recover the bodies and treatment of the injured...Further investigation is underway," he said. 

Besides this incident, four persons died in a road accident in the Sadar Police Station area of Ranchi last night. Their car went uncontrolled, hit an electric pole and then overturned.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem and an investigation was underway, police said, as per ANI.

As many as six persons, including five from an Andhra Pradesh family, died in a head-on crash between a pickup truck and a minivan on U.S. Highway 67 in Texas state of the United States on Wednesday, people familiar with the matter said.

As per a report, India witnessed a 9.4 per cent surge in road accidents in the year 2022, with 1.68 lakh people losing their lives due to reckless driving, overspeeding, drunken driving and non-compliance of traffic regulations.
