A 35-year-old doctor was found dead at Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital in Delhi on Sunday morning. The deceased had been identified as Dr Simarpreet Singh Anand and was on a night shift from 8 pm on July 4 to 8 am on July 5. A three-page note and a personal diary were recovered from the duty room of the doctor. 

The matter came to light when the Civil Lines police station received a PCR call during the early hours of Sunday. Upon reaching the hospital premises, the investigators found that Anand was lying unconscious in Duty Room No. 109.

The police said that they forced open the duty room at around 9 am. Dr Anand was taken to the emergency ward, wherein he was declared dead. Cops found a cannula inserted in his left hand. Upon investigation, it was discovered that a technician had inserted a cannula at around 10 pm on Saturday at the doctor's request.

What Did Death Note Reveal?

Police said that a death note was recovered from the duty room. It mentioned that Dr Anand has taken this step himself. He wrote that he was involved in a relationship with Dr Akanksha Chaudhary, who has been working as a senior resident in the Anaesthesia Department for the past two years.

Their families did not approve of the marriage, as the two belonged to different castes. Dr Chaudhary is a resident of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Body Sent For Post Mortem

The body has been shifted to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Police said the autopsy will be conducted by a medical board on Monday. While examining the duty room, the District Crime Team and the Forensix Science Laboratory (FSL) team found a three-page note. Apart from this, a syringe, empty medicine vials, and a diary were found inside a black bag in the room.

Probe revealed that Dr Anand was a resident of Punjab and had been working in the hospital's Anaesthesia Department for the past three years.
