Agra-Gwalior Expressway News: A 600 metre long hanging bridge will be built on Chambal river on the Gwalior-Agra Expressway. The work of taking soil samples for bridge construction has begun. The samples will be tested in the lab and the depth of the bridge will be decided. With the construction of the 88 km long Agra-Gwalior Expressway, it will take one and a half hours to reach Gwalior from Agra. It will be constructed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Gwalior section. In September 2022, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the Gwalior-Agra Expressway. NHAI Gwalior section issued the tender in January 2024, jagran.com reported.
The work proposal got delayed due to lack of approval from the cabinet. The tender date was extended nine times. An NHAI official said that samples are being taken from the Chambal river. The construction of the bridge will be completed in one and a half years and the expressway in two years. The expressway will be connected to the third phase of the Inner Ring Road.
Gwalior-Agra Expressway At A Glance
-A six-lane expressway will be constructed at a cost of Rs 3841.18 crore

On one side of the Gwalior Expressway is the Inner Ring Road and on the other side is the New Southern Bypass. It will be connected to both. This will make the commute easier for the commuters. The Gwalior Highway will also be repaired by the NHAI Gwalior section.
