What Is A DVR?

A DVR or Digital Video Recorder is a system that captures, stores, and manages video footage from other cameras to improve security and help during investigations. It works like a CCTV camera that captures footage from various cameras situated throughout the system and stores it in a digital storage unit. It is designed to capture every single moment that can be used in security, investigation, training and operational reviews.

Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) can withstand severe damage and accidents. They capture video and sometimes audio in the critical areas. In contrast to the traditional black boxes (the Flight Data Recorder and Cockpit Voice Recorder) that are installed in aircraft, DVRs record video along with sounds, which can be crucial during an investigation. DVRs can help in monitoring the situation during an accident and provide crucial information.
