Air India Express News: Air India Express has announced the launch of flights from Ghaziabad's Hindon Airport to enhance connectivity across India's burgeoning domestic and short-haul international markets. This makes the airline the sole carrier to operate from two airports within the National Capital Region (NCR).
Beginning from August 1, Air India Express will offer a total of 28 direct flights per week, connecting Hindon Airport to key destinations such as Bengaluru, Goa and Kolkata. This expansion complements the airline's existing operations from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi, which currently serves over 280 flights per week.

Indian Express report quoted Aloke Singh, the Managing Director of Air India Express, as saying, "Our network expansion is focused on enhancing connectivity across the rapidly growing domestic and short-haul international market, particularly the new and underserved routes. The maturity and size of major metropolitan areas in India can support secondary airports, spreading the benefits of air connectivity and further stimulating growth."
The strategic location of Hindon Airport within the NCR is expected to benefit a wide catchment area, including central and eastern Delhi, parts of western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and even Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Air India Express will operate two daily return flights from Bengaluru and one daily return flight each from Kolkata and Goa to the Hindon Airport.
In addition to these direct connections, the airline also plans to offer one-stop itineraries from Hindon Airport to other key destinations on its network, such as Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kochi, Hyderabad, Imphal, Bagdogra, Mangalore, Mumbai, Pune, and Thiruvananthapuram.

The announcement comes as the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) at Jewar in Western Uttar Pradesh nears its inauguration. While the Hindon Airport has been operational for some time, it has primarily served regional carriers. However, in October last year, the government permitted the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to allow regular scheduled commercial flights from the Hindon Airport.
