Air India Express is reportedly planning to launch daily flight services from Bengaluru to several key cities, including Ahmedabad, Dehradun and Chandigarh from September 1. While providing details, the officials stated that the aircraft will launch the proposed flight operations in two phases. The flight services from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad and Bengaluru to Chandigarh will commence on September 1; however, the services on the Bengaluru-Dehradun route will begin on September 15.

The decision was taken to boost the regional connectivity after receiving several requests from the passengers and authorities. The airline is also offering discount on tickets in the initial days and the one-way fare is expected to be around at Rs 4,100 for the first few days, reported the Deccan Herald. Air India Express currently operates more than 400 weekly flights from Bengaluru to different destinations. While the flight services from Bengaluru is available for 34 domestic destinations, the service is also present for three international destinations.

Earlier last month, the airline stated that it will take several steps in the upcoming months to boost the regional connectivity. In a separate news, Air India CEO Campbell Wilson on July 25 stated that the Air India has improved its training, strengthened standard operating procedures (SOPs) and has been focused on improving reporting about safety and other matters. He further acknowledged the period of intense scrutiny following an accident, adding that the commentary must be taken constructively with grace and an open mind.

On June 12, Air India Flight 171 crashed into a hostel building at Ahmedabad's BJ Medical College, killing all but one of the 242 on board and claiming 19 lives on the ground. The airline, which has come under intense scrutiny following the accident, has taken certain measures, including temporary curtailment of flights and completion of inspection of its Boeing 787 and 737 fleets.
