As per the officials, the members of the terror module underwent training, including weapons handling, at various locations. The suspects were from different states, and their leader, Dr Ishtiyaq, was from Jharkhand. Raids are currently underway and additional arrests are also in the offing. The arrested individuals are currently being interrogated.
The raids were conducted after credible intelligence inputs, the news agency reported citing officials.
"The module, as per current state of operations, was being led by one Dr. Ishtiyaq of Ranchi (Jharkhand), and it was aspiring to declare 'khilafat' and execute serious terrorist activities within the country," a Delhi Police statement said.
This came days after Delhi police nabbed Rizwan Abdul Haji Ali, a key member of the Pune Islamic State (ISIS) module, from the national capital. Ali had a bounty of Rs 3 lakh on his head. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had issued a warrant for his arrest and he had been evading capture since escaping custody of Pune Police.
