A local BJP worker, Ashish Gulati, was arrested for allegedly posing as an officer on special duty (OSD) of Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij and cheating people by promising them jobs in the police department. The arrest was made after Anij Vij directed the Inspector General of Police (Ambala range) to take action on a complaint filed by Manish Garg, a resident of Pehowa grain market in Kurukshetra.
The victim said he met Gulati and his accomplice Lakshay in Ambala Cantt on March 11 through one of his relatives. He said Gulati introduced himself as the OSD of Vij and Lakshay claimed he could get anyone a job in Haryana Police for Rs 18 lakh.
Garg asked Lakshay for a police job for a man named Abhishek. Vikram, a relative of Abhishek, gave Rs 18 lakh to Lakshay, who gave Abhishek a fake appointment letter for a sub-inspector post. Vikram also paid Lakshay for reinstating one of his suspended relatives in the police department.
