AN EXPLOSION occurred close to the Golden Temple in Punjab’s Amritsar early morning on Thursday. This comes after two explosions were reported on Saturday and Monday on Heritage Street near the most important holy site for Sikhs. Five persons, involved in these incidents, have been arrested by the police so far.
The motive behind the attack was to disturb peace in the area, police sources quoted by ANI informed. The accused persons had applied explosives used in firecrackers to carry out the blast. The police along with forensic teams reached the spot soon after the explosion and collected samples from the site.

“A loud sound was heard at around 12.15-12.30 am. There's a possibility that it could be another explosion. It's being verified and is yet to be confirmed. We have found some pieces behind the building. But since it is dark we are trying to find out,” Commissioner of Police Naunihal Singh had ealier said, according to ANI. The explosion reportedly took place near Shri Guru Ramdas Niwas. Heavy deployment of police continues to be in place in the area around the Golden Temple.

Earlier an explosion took place in Amritsar’s Heritage Street which leads up to the Golden Temple on Saturday night. Then again on Monday, another explosion was reported from a nearby area. Six persons were injured in the first incident which happened in a chimney of a restaurant, according to the Times of India. No person was reported to be injured in the second incident.
At the time of the incident, which had also happened in the early morning hours of Monday, there was not much traffic in the area and the explosion had only caused some windowpanes of nearby buildings to shatter. Deputy Superintendent of Police Parminder Singh Bhandal had also reached the spot and a probe was being conducted in that matter too.
Four Army Jawans were killed while they were asleep in a firing incident that had taken place at the Bathinda Military Station on April 12. It later turned out to be an incident of fratricide. The four slain jawans had been identified as Sagar, Kamlesh, Santosh, and Yogesh.
The soldiers were killed allegedly by another army jawan identified as Desai Mohan, who had initially been a witness in the case. He had later confessed to the police, according to a Hindustan Times report, that he killed the men because they had treated him badly.
