AFTER Saturday's explosion that rocked Amritsar's Heritage Street, another one was reported at a nearby site on Monday as well. The explosion occurred at around 6:30 AM today, according to Jagran Hindi. Police and security officials have reached the spot. One person has reportedly been injured due to the explosion.

There wasn't much traffic at the street at the time of the attack. A probe is underway on the street and high ranking officials of the Police have reached the spot. The members of the forensic team have collected various samples from the spot and efforts are on to get the CCTV footage from the area.

The police have denied that any explosives are present at the spot currently. Deputy Superintendent of Police Parminder Singh Bhandal also reached the spot to oversee the probe in the matter.

The blast on Saturday that had occurred close to an eating joint had injured one person. The impact of the blast was such that it was heard in a one kilometre radius. The explosion that occurred on Monday morning reportedly took place 200 metres away from the site of the first blast.

In the blast that occurred on Saturday, the Police denied the involvement of any terrorists. They claimed it was merely an accident. Still, fear had gripped the area after the explosion that had led to glasses of several nearby buildings shattering. Several people present at the spot at the time of Saturday's explosion had thought it was carried out by terrorists. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mehtab Singh had informed everyone that there was no need to panic as the situation was brought under control but the reason behind the explosion has not been determined yet. 

Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government over the issue, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu said in a tweet, "Blast in Amritsar Several Injured 'The war in which the life of the king is not at risk is called politics, not war'. Being safe in the armor of 1200 security personnel, when the 'Most Protected' Chief Minister is watching murders, extortions and loots happening openly in his state as a mute spectator, then downfall is certain".
