Andhra Accident: Three people were killed while several others were injured after a private bus collided with a lorry in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district in the early hours of Thursday. Both vehicles caught fire following the crash. Those killed in the accident include - the bus driver, the lorry driver, and the cleaner.

The bus was on its way from Andhra Pradesh's Nellore in  to Hyderabad in Telangana when its right-side tyre burst. Following this, the driver lost control of the vehicle, jumped the divider and hit a lorry. The accident happened at around 1:30 am.

"A private bus suffered a tyre burst and collided with an oncoming lorry, resulting in the death of three people near Sirivellametta in Nandyal district. The bus driver, the lorry driver, and the cleaner were burnt alive in the accident. Soon after the collision, the bus caught fire,” said Madhusudan, Inspector, Sirivellametta, as quoted by ANI.

Four people sustained serious injuries  and have been shifted to the hospital.

“A local DCM driver broke the bus windows, helping 36 passengers escape safely and saving their lives. 3 people died in the accident, four sustained serious injuries and were shifted to the hospital, while eight others suffered minor injuries,” he added.

Traffic was halted in the area for several hours as a result. Fire tenders managed to bring the blaze under control, however, both vehicles were completely charred.

Earlier in October 2025, a similar tragedy occurred in Kurnool where 20 people were charred to death after a Bengaluru-bound private sleeper bus met with an accident and burst into flames near the Chinna Tekur village.
