The Andhra Pradesh police have taken action after a pregnant woman was allegedly kicked in the stomach by a YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) worker during former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s birthday celebrations.
The incident occurred on December 21 in Sri Sathya Sai district and triggered widespread public outrage. Following the backlash, police on Tuesday paraded the accused as part of action in the case.
Prime accused Ajay Deva was paraded from the RTC Bus Stand Circle to the Rural Police Station in Sri Sathya Sai district’s Kadiri town. In a video shared by Sri Sathya Sai District Police, Deva can be seen walking barefoot surrounded by police personnel.

The victim Sandhya Rani, was assaulted after she demanded that the firecrackers be burst away from the crowd during the birthday celebrations. Deva along with another YSRCP activist, Anjinappa attacked Sandhya and kicked her in the stomach to harm her unborn child, police said as quoted by an NDTV report. Police have arrested Deva and efforts are underway to find Anjinappa, who is currently on the run.
According to Kadiri Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shiva Narayanaswamy, the act had a clear criminal intent and strict legal action is being taken.
