- Elderly man alleges daughter-in-law pressuring for house transfer.
- He alleges threats, assault by daughter-in-law and her brothers.
- Police ordered inquiry into property dispute and harassment case.
A 70-year-old resident of Sanjay Colony, Laxminarayan, brought a complaint during a public grievance hearing held on Tuesday at the Collectorate and SP office in Morena. He alleged that his daughter-in-law, Aarti, has been pressuring him to transfer the ownership of his house in her name.
During the hearing, he said, “Sir, please save me from my children. My wife passed away in 2021. My daughter-in-law Aarti is harassing me to get the house transferred in her name.”
The public grievance session saw multiple cases of family and property disputes being presented, with complainants including elderly parents, spouses, and siblings.
Laxminarayan further alleged that after his wife’s death in 2021, Aarti intensified pressure on him to transfer the house. He also claimed that he was threatened with death if he did not comply.
According to his complaint, Aarti repeatedly contacted her brothers Sunil, Jeetu, Sumeet, and Chhotu, who allegedly insulted and assaulted him and forced him out of his home. They also reportedly threatened to kill him if the property was not transferred in their name.
The Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) has ordered an inquiry and assigned the matter to the officer-in-charge of the women’s police station for investigation and questioning of the accused.
In a separate case, an elderly complainant alleged denial of access to borewell water by a family member.
Rajat, a resident of Sanjay Nagar in Joura, stated during the hearing that two brothers living separately had jointly installed a borewell on their shared land. However, he claimed that the elder brother has since taken control of it.
He alleged that he is not even allowed to draw drinking water from the borewell and is met with threats whenever he attempts to do so.
He further stated that although the borewell was installed at personal expense on government land, the elder brother is now trying to seize both the land and the water source.
The ASP has directed the Joura police station in charge to conduct an investigation and take appropriate action.
