As the early trends suggest BJP’s walkover in Hindi heartland states, the Congress has dialled INDI bloc leaders to convene the coalition meeting next week, news agency ANI reported. Notably, the saffron party has gained a decisive lead in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan as the results of the polls in five states are being announced.

The opposition bloc, having parties who are like-minded and largely anti-BJP, had three meetings so far, each in Patna, Bengaluru, and Mumbai earlier this year. Seat sharing formula for upcoming Lok Sabha polls is expected to be on top of the bloc’s meeting.
NCP leader Supriya Sule also insinuated during the Mumbai meeting that the next convention will be held in New Delhi.
Notably, the coalition had been through many bad phases for quite some time now. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had said Congress wasn’t serious about the alliance and was focusing on Assembly elections in five states. "We have been speaking to them... pushing them forward in the INDIA alliance. But, of late, there has not been much progress on that front. The Congress seems to be more interested in the five assembly polls. We agreed to assign Congress the leading role. But it appears they will call the next meeting only after they are through with the state elections," he had said.
Samajwadi Chief Akhilesh Yadav had also rebuked the grand old party at times alleging they were betraying the alliance. "Do not vote for the Congress. It is a very cunning party. It is now being supportive of the caste census for the sake of votes. If It has betrayed us, how come the public is significant for it", Akhilesh Yadav said at a public rally in Madhya Pradesh's Jatara Constituency of Tikamgarh district, as quoted by news agency ANI.
