Leader of Opposition in Delhi assembly Atishi on Monday criticised the BJP for allegedly removing the photos of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and Dalit icon BR Ambedkar from the chief minister office. Atishi claimed that removal of the pictures of these legends show the anti-Dalit and anti-Sikh mindset of the BJP. She further asked whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi is greater than these national heroes.
She claimed that while the photos were installed by AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal during his tenure as the chief minister of the state, the BJP has removed them. She also held a protest outside the assembly with the other MLAs of the party.
"The anti-Dalit mentality of the Bharatiya Janata Party is well known. Today, a proof of its anti-Dalit mentality has been presented. Arvind Kejriwal had put up photos of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh in every office of the Delhi government...the BJP has removed both these photos from the Chief Minister's office. This shows that the BJP is an anti-Dalit, anti-Sikh party," Atishi said.
"Does the BJP think PM Narendra Modi is greater than Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh?" she asked. Atishi also criticised Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for delaying the implementation of Mahila Samman Yojana in which the saffron party had promised to deliver Rs 2500 to the Delhi women. She stated that the Delhi government had failed to meet the commitment made by PM Modi.

"We had asked for time from the Chief Minister for the last 2 days, we did not get time for 2 days and today we went to meet chief minister Rekha Gupta ji during the session," Atishi stated. The incumbent AAP was defeated by the BJP in the recently concluded Delhi assembly elections. The saffron party managed to register victory over 48 of the total 70 seats of the state.
