Atul Subhash, a 34-year-old engineer working in a private company in Bangalore, committed suicide and has left a 24-page suicide note. The Supreme Court, while hearing a case from Telangana, expressed concern over the misuse of dowry law by women. The court remarked that in cases of dowry harassment, the courts should be cautious to prevent misuse of the law.
The Allahabad High Court took cognizance of the case, reports jagran.com. It said that in view of the tendency to implicate the close relatives of the husband, innocent family members should be saved from unnecessary trouble. The High Court has asked for the file containing details of all the cases going on in the civil court against Atul Subhash and his family.
Atul Subhash's advocate, Awadhesh Tiwari, said that the High Court has sought the record of all the cases filed against Atul. He received a call from the district judge's office to provide the date and other details of the cases going on against Atul.
Currently, a case of maintenance, domestic violence, and dowry harassment is going on against Atul in the Civil Court. The record of all the files will be sent to the High Court. According to media reports, many people have mailed the High Court and demanded to investigate the case and punish the culprits.
The date of hearing in the dowry harassment case filed by wife Nikita Singhania against deceased engineer Atul Subhash, his father, mother, and brother is fixed on Thursday, i.e., 12 December. The case is going on in the court of ACJM First. In this case, the advocate of deceased Atul said that now he will give an application in the court regarding Atul's death report.
Atul Subhash Commits Suicide
Subhash's body was found hanging at his residence in the Manjunath Layout area, which falls under the Marathahalli police station limits, on Monday. A placard reading "Justice is due" was found in the room where he allegedly ended his life.
Before taking the extreme step, he recorded an over 80-minute video on Rumble, explaining the circumstances behind his decision.
In the video, which has now gone viral on social media platforms, Subhash can be heard saying, "I feel that I should kill myself because the money I earn is making my enemies stronger. That same money will be used to destroy me, and this cycle will keep going."
Subhash's uncle Pawan Kumar alleged his nephew was being harassed and tortured for money and that he was also humiliated by his wife and the judge.
"What has happened is very unfortunate. He was losing the case (filed by his wife). He was being tortured. They (wife and family) were constantly demanding money from him. To the best of his capacity, he was giving her money for child maintenance."
Initially the family demanded Rs 40,000 per month, doubled it later and then wanted the deceased to provide Rs 1 lakh.
