A week ago, a wedding barat from Kyarda village had gone to Barara in Ambala district, Haryana. While returning to Kyarda, the barat stopped for tea at Dhaula Kuan around 6 pm. It was at this stop that gold jewellery was stolen from one of the barat vehicles.
Case Registered, Special Team Formed
A theft case was immediately registered at the Majra police station under the relevant sections. Sirmaur Police formed a special team comprising Cyber Cell Head Constable Amarender Singh, Majra police station Head Constable Sangeet Kumar, and Constable Gurdeep Singh.
Swift Investigation Using CCTV, Technical Evidence
Acting quickly on the directions of Sirmaur SP, the team analysed CCTV footage from the area and other technical evidence. They found that some suspicious persons were involved in the crime. These individuals had followed the barat all the way from Barara and had even attended the wedding function.
Main Accused Identified, Arrested
Through analysis of CCTV footage in various areas of Haryana, the team identified the main accused as Nitish Kumar, son of Umesh Kumar, resident of village Kadiya Sansi Dok Ghar, Pipliya Rasoda, Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh. He was arrested along with the vehicle used in the crime (registration number UP80FF-3852).
On Monday, the accused was produced in court and 5 5-day police remand was obtained. Sirmaur Police had earlier arrested the same accused in 2015 from Bathinda, Punjab. He was currently a proclaimed offender. Walkie-talkie sets were also recovered from him.
How Gang Avoided Arrest
The gang used walkie-talkie sets to communicate with each other during the crime. They did not use mobile phones at all so that their location would not get recorded on local mobile towers. The vehicle also did not display a number plate during the theft.
The police are now collecting information about the accused’s possible involvement in theft cases at other locations.
