In a breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday made another arrest in the Delhi Car blast case. The NIA has arrested a key associate of Dr Umar who carried out the car blast near the Red Fort.

The arrested accused has been identified as Jasir Bilal Wani, also known as Danish. In a statement, the NIA said that Jasir is a resident of Qazigund in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag. He was arrested in Srinagar.

The statement read, "Continuing with its probe in the Red Fort area car bomb blast case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another key associate of the terrorist involved in the blast."

The investigation has revealed that Jasir had allegedly provided technical support to terrorists for carrying out attacks by modifying drones, making rockets.

According to NIA investigations, "Jasir had allegedly provided technical support for carrying out terror attacks by modifying drones and attempting to make rockets ahead of the deadly car bomb blast which killed 10 persons and left 32 persons injured."

The NIA has said that Jasir was an active co-conspirator behind the attack and had worked closely with the terrorist, Umar un Nabi, to plan the terror carnage.

The NIA added that it "continues to explore various angles to unravel the conspiracy behind the bombing. Several teams of the anti-terror agency are pursuing multiple leads and are conducting searches across states to identify every person involved in the terror attack."

The arrest came just a day after the NIA arrested Amir Rashid Ali, also an aide of Dr Umar. The agency called his arrest a 'major breakthrough'.

Amir, a resident of Samboora in Jammu and Kashmir's Pampore, was held in Delhi. He allegedly facilitated the purchase of the Hyundai i20 car used in the suicide attack. The vehicle had been registered in his name.
