  1. Accused researched murder methods, rehearsed plot at Lohagad Fort.
  2. Siya Goyal, Chetan Chaudhary killed fiancé Ketan Agarwal.
  3. Murder driven by secret relationship, arranged marriage pressure.

In a shocking revelation in the murder case of Pune-based real estate businessman Ketan Agarwal, police have found that the accused Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, reportedly searched online for ways to kill Ketan.

The accused allegedly googled poisoning and other methods to make the murder appear accidental, and ‘rehearsed’ their plan several times. During this period, Chetan and Siya also identified a spot at Lohagad Fort where pushing Ketan into the gorge would appear to be an accident.

According to the police officials, the two went to the Fort alone with an aim to rehearse the plan and had also prepared answers for the police investigation if caught. The two had also planned to disguise themselves to avoid suspicion.

What Happened During the Incident?

On June 18, at around 10:30 am, Siya went to Lohagad Fort with her fiance Ketan. According to police, Chetan followed them to the fort, and the two allegedly pushed Ketan into the gorge.

After Ketan's murder, Siya allegedly tried to pass it off as an accident, claiming he had slipped while taking photographs. She even shared an emotional post on social media after his death. However, the alleged plan eventually failed.

According to police, both accused were unable to withstand the pressure from their families.

Police investigations have revealed that the murder plot had been in the making for several weeks. "The accused decided to eliminate Ketan Agarwal because they were unable to stop Goyal's arranged marriage due to social and family pressure, even though they were in a relationship," an officer said.

Police said Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary first met during a cricket match, as Siya used to accompany her brother Sahil. The two later met again at a Diwali party in October last year and soon developed a romantic relationship.

Pune Rural Police said that although Siya had discussed her concerns with her brother, no solution was found after her engagement in February. Police also questioned Siya Goyal's parents, as well as her uncle and aunt, who had arranged her marriage to Agarwal.

Earlier Attempt at the Alleged Murder

According to Pune Rural Police, the first attempt to murder Ketan was made on June 14, when she allegedly pushed Ketan from the fort. However, Ketan survived by grabbing a bush. To distract any suspicion, Siya screamed, claiming she saw a snake and then hugged Ketan.

After their alleged attempt at Lohagad Fort on June 14 failed, the two decided that Chetan would be physically present during the next attempt.

Police said Goyal and Chaudhary were in constant contact through phone calls and text messages. They allegedly discussed ways to kill Ketan and stage his death as an accident, finalising their plan by the end of May.

Siya Goyal Taken To Recreate Scene

The Pune Rural Police on Sunday took Siya Goyal to Lohagad Fort to recreate the crime scene. Officials said an entire crime scene from beginning to the end, including which road the vehicle took, where the perpetrators positioned themselves, what exact act occurred and how the crime took place, has been reconstructed.

"Siya was taken to the spot at Lohagad Fort from where she, along with Chetan Chaudhary, allegedly pushed Agarwal to death. Chetan will be taken to the fort separately," PTI quoted a senior official.
