Bengal Cabinet Expansion: The much-anticipated cabinet expansion of West Bengal’s first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, concluded on Monday at the Raj Bhavan. Amid the resounding chants of Vande Mataram and the national anthem, Governor RN Ravi administered the oath of office and secrecy to a total of 35 new ministers.

With this mega expansion, the total number of members in the Suvendu cabinet now stands at 41. This cabinet has meticulously maintained regional balance and social equations, which is part of the BJP's long-term strategy in Bengal.

Minister Of State With Independent Charge

Malati Rabha Roy, Rajesh Mahato and Indranil Khan have been given independent charge. Meanwhile, Ashok Dinda, Kaushik Choudhary, Juel Murmu, Harekrishna Bera, Santanu Pramanik, Umesh Roy, Purnima Chakraborty, Bhaskar Bhattacharya, Dibakar Gharami, Nadia Chand Bauri, Gargi Das Ghosh, Amiya Kisku, Kalita Maji, Biraj Biswas, Sumana Sarkar, Anandamoy Barman, Vishal Lama and Dipankar Jana have assumed responsibility as Ministers of State.

Colours Of Bengali Culture During Swearing-In

At the swearing-in ceremony, most of the ministers were seen in traditional Bengali attire 'Dhoti-Punjabi' (Kurta), which is an attempt to give the message that BJP is deeply connected with the culture and identity of Bengal.

Division Of Departments, First Cabinet Meeting In Nabanna

On May 9, Suvendu Adhikari was sworn in as Chief Minister at the Brigade Parade Ground. The oath was also conducted for Agnimitra Pal, Dilip Ghosh, Nishith Pramanik, Ashok Kirtania, and Khudiram Tudu. Following today's major expansion, all ministers will proceed directly to the state secretariat, Nabanna.

According to reports from Nabanna, CM Suvendu Adhikari will chair the first ministerial meeting today and officially allocate portfolios. It is being speculated that portfolios will be assigned based on the North Bengal, Jangalmahal, and South Bengal dynamics.
