In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old nurse was found dead in a nursing home where she worked in West Bengal's Hooghly district, police said on Friday.
The body of the woman was found hanging from the ceiling in a room on the third floor of the nursing home in Singur on Thursday, they said.
While the nursing home management has called it a suicide, the victim's family alleged that she was sexually assaulted and murdered because she exposed the irregularities in the operation of the nursing home.
The nursing home management has rejected the allegation. Her family has said that the woman joined the nursing home just four days ago.

The victim was a resident of Nandigram in Purba Medinipur district. Reacting to the allegations, the police said they were investigating the case and waiting for the autopsy report.
"We are waiting for the autopsy report before taking any action," a police officer said. The case, which is reminiscent of the RG Kar horror, prompted the opposition BJP and CPI(M) to hold demonstrations in the area after the body was found. They alleged that the nurse was murdered.
Meanwhile, state minister Becharam Manna, the local TMC MLA, said action will be taken if the police investigation finds any foul play in her death.
The charges levied by the victim's family has sparked the horrific memories of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape case, where a woman trainee post-graduate doctor was raped and killed inside the institute. The case caused massive outrage across the nation, prompting protests from doctors, citizens alike.
