Bengal Weather: The Alipore Meteorological Department has forecast moderate rain and thunderstorms across South Bengal districts including Kolkata on Thursday. Meanwhile, heavy rain will hit North Bengal districts during this time. A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms in Howrah, South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia and Bankura on Friday.

The rain will occur in view of a low-pressure area in the northwest Bay of Bengal. Along with this, there is also a cyclone in the central Bay of Bengal, the strength of which is expected to increase in the next 24 hours, as per the weather body.

“Heavy rainfall activity is very likely to decrease over North Bengal. Widespread light to moderate rainfall with heavy rainfall at one or two places very likely to occur over some districts of North Bengal,” the weather body said in its report on Thursday.

North Bengal Weather

Heavy rain is likely to occur in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar on Thursday. No warnings have been issued for friday and Saturday.

Rain activity will begin once again on Sunday with heavy showers in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar till Monday. Heavy rain is expected in Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong and Alipurduar on Tuesday and Wednesday.

South Bengal Weather

August 15: Light to moderate rain/thundershower are very likely to occur at many places over South Bengal. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are very likely to occur at one or two places over South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Bankura and Hooghly districts of South Bengal.

August 16: Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over South Bengal.

August 17: Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to occur at many places over South Bengal. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are very likely to occur at one or two places over North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Kolkata, Howrah, Nadia, East Midnapore, West Midnapore and Hooghly districts of South Bengal.
