Bengal Weather: India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kolkata, has said that the Southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of west central and North Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Mizoram, entire Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, some parts of Assam and Meghalaya. Conditions are favorable for further advance of Southwest monsoon into some more parts of some more parts of North Bay of Bengal and remaining parts of Northeastern states and some parts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next three days. In the presence of favourable wind patterns and moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds activity are likely to continue during the next 3 to 4 days. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely in South Bengal districts including Kolkata from Wednesday.
“A low-pressure area is likely to form over west-central and adjoining North Bay of Bengal around May 27. Under its influence heavy rainfall is likely to commence from May 28 over some districts of West Bengal,” the IMD, Kolkata, said in its bulletin.

May 27: Thunderstorm with gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph), lightning and light to moderate rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over all the districts of South Bengal.
May 28: Thunderstorm with gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph), lightning and light to moderate rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over all the districts of South Bengal with Heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, West Midnapore districts of South Bengal.
May 29: Thunderstorm with gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph), lightning and light to moderate rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over all the districts of South Bengal with Heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Jhargram, Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, Bankura and West Burdwan districts of South Bengal.

May 27 and 28: No Warning
May 29: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (07-20 cm) rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over North Dinajpur and Coochbehar districts of North Bengal. Heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over rest districts of North Bengal.
May 30 and 31: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (07-20 cm) rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar and Alipurduar districts of North Bengal.
