Bengal Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and orange alerts for West Bengal. A yellow alert for rain has been sounded for Kolkata on Tuesday. As per the weather body, the city of joy will witness thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall. The maximum temperature will settle around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum will hover around 26 degrees Celsius. An orange alert has been sounded for several other districts in Bengal.

Kolkata is set to experience warm and unsettled weather over the coming days. On April 15, thunderstorms with rain are expected, with temperatures ranging between 26 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius. From April 16-20, the sky shall be partly cloudy. On April 16, thunder and lightning are likely to occur. April 17 will see moderate rain or thunderstorms.
Rain or thundershowers, accompanied by strong gusty winds, are likely on April 18. April 19-20 are expected to see rain or thunderstorms later in the day. Temperatures will range from 33 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius during the day, with minimums between 24 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius. Residents have been advised to prepare in advance.
North Bengal Hills To See Heavy Rain
Hilly regions like Darjeeling in North Bengal are likely to experience scattered rainfall and thunderstorms till Wednesday, April 16.

Districts like Kalimpong and Alipurduar may also see gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph, while wind speeds in Malda and both Dinajpurs may climb to 50–60 kmph. However, from Monday onwards, the weather office anticipates a decline in both the frequency and intensity of the storms in North Bengal.
