Bengal Weather: The Alipore Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in 11 North and South Bengal districts on Thursday. Additionally, there is a possibility of light to moderate showers in almost all parts of West Bengal.
“The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Ferozepur, Chandigarh and thence east-southeastwards close to foothills of Himalayas to the northeast Arunachal Pradesh. The upper air cyclonic circulation lies over central parts of Bangladesh between 3.1 and 5.8 km tilting southwestward with height,” IMD said in its bulletin.

South Bengal Weather
On Thursday, all southern districts including Kolkata will witness thunderstorms with lightning. The weather body has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Bankura, East Burdwan and Nadia. Heavy rain activity will continue in Dum Dum, Purulia, Bankura, East Burdwan, West Burdwan, Birbhum and Murshidabad on Friday as well. The rain activity will reduce from Saturday.
North Bengal Weather
Heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar districts on Thursday. Meanwhile, heavy rain is expected to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Cooch Behar district of North Bengal. Apart from this, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty wind are very likely to occur at one or two places over Malda, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur and Jalpaiguri districts of North Bengal.
