Bengal Weather: As the rainy spell with thunder and lightning continues over various districts of Bengal, the weather will likely change from Thursday, May 8. Temperatures are expected to rise gradually.
The state is expected to experience a mix of conditions this week. Thunderstorms are likely in all districts today, with light to moderate rain, thundershowers, and gusty winds reaching 30 to 40 km/h across South Bengal, including Kolkata.
Thunderstorms will become less likely after Wednesday, while isolated rain and thunder may still occur in North and South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, Nadia, and Murshidabad.
A change in weather is expected on Thursday, with dry conditions spreading over South Bengal, particularly in the lower areas. Clear skies are forecast starting Friday, accompanied by a considerable rise in temperatures.
The Meteorological Department forecasts a temperature increase of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius between Friday and Sunday, resulting in hot and unpleasant weather during the weekend.
Weather In North Bengal
Today, mild to moderate rain with thunder is expected in the northern districts, notably Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar. While the risk of thunderstorms will decrease beginning Wednesday, rain with thunder will likely persist in some locations.
During the mid-week, scattered light to moderate rains with thunder may occur in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, and Uttar Dinajpur.
Temperatures are forecast to climb marginally starting Wednesday, with dry weather prevailing in North Bengal's lower regions. According to the Meteorological Department, maximum temperatures might rise by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius by Sunday.
