Bengal Weather: India Meteorological Department (IMD), Kolkata has forecast rain and thunderstorm activity in north and south Bengal districts till May 7. Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to rise by a few degrees in the next few days in Kolkata. A north-south trough now runs from cyclonic circulation over northern parts of Gangetic West Bengal to north coastal Andhra Pradesh across coastal Odisha at 0.9 km above mean sea level. An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over north coastal Odisha at 3.1 km above mean sea level. Due to favourable wind patterns and moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal, moderate to severe thunderstorm activity is likely over the districts of West Bengal. Kolkata city is likely to be hit by a storm this evening. The influence of the Kalbaisakhi storm may be seen in Kolkata.
