Bengal Weather: The Alipore Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in North Bengal districts this week. Additionally, sporadic rain is likely in South Bengal districts with Kolkata expected to see rain and thunderstorms.

“The upper air cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining west central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts between 1.5 and 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height persists. Under the presence of above meteorological conditions and strong moisture incursion, widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall activity is very likely over the districts of North Bengal,” RMC, Kolkata stated in its bulletin on Monday.
South Bengal Weather
No alerts have been issued for South Bengal on Monday and Tuesday. South Bengal districts along with Kolkata are kept under an alert for scattered rains with thunder on Wednesday and Thursday. The weather body has not issued any warning thereafter.
North Bengal Weather
September 8: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over Alipurduar and Kalimpong districts of North Bengal and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts of North Bengal.
September 9: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri districts of North Bengal and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Coochbehar districts of North Bengal.
September 10: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over Alipurduar district of North Bengal and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar and North Dinajpur districts of North Bengal.
