Bengal Weather Update: The Alipore Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in Kolkata and other South Bengal districts in the coming days due to the influence of a low-pressure area. Kolkata will be drenched iwith heavy downpour expected on July 24. Thunderstorms and lightning are expected in four South Bengal districts on Tuesday.
“A cyclonic circulation (Remnant of Tropical Cyclone Wipha) is likely to emerge over north Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region in the subsequent 48 hours. Due to anticipated low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal and strong moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal, rainfall activity likely to increase with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely over districts of South Bengal during July 24 -28,” RMC, Kolkata said in its bulletin on Tuesday.
South Bengal Weather
July 22: Thunderstorm and gusty wind (speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph) and lightning likely to occur at one or two places over South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Jhargram, East Burdwan, West Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad districts of South Bengal.
July 23: Thunderstorms and gusty wind (speed reaching 30 to 40 kmph) and lightning likely to occur at one or two places over all the districts of South Bengal.

July 24: Heavy to very rainfall (07-20 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over South 24 Parganas, Jhargram, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Bankura, Purulia districts and Heavy Rainfall (07-11 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over rest districts of South Bengal.
July 25: Heavy to very rainfall (07-20 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia districts and heavy Rainfall (07-11 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over South 24 Parganas, East and West Burdwan, Bankura, Hooghly districts of South Bengal.
July 26: Heavy Rainfall (07-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over East & West Burdwan, Purulia, Bankura, East & West Midnapore, Jhargram, Howrah, Hooghly and South 24 Parganas districts of South Bengal.
July 27: Heavy Rainfall (07-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Purulia and Jhargram districts of South Bengal.
July 28: Heavy Rainfall (07-11 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore districts of South Bengal.
North Bengal Weather
No alert has been issued for North Bengal for the next three days. But heavy rain may lash the region from Friday. The weather body has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Kalimpong for Friday. Heavy rains will occur in Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong and Alipurduar on Saturday.
