Bengal Weather: With the arrival of monsoon in South Bengal, heavy rain is expected to lash multiple districts throughout the week. There is a possibility of heavy rain on Thursday, June 19, in all districts of South Bengal including Kolkata. Heavy to very heavy rain warnings have also been issued in certain places. Along with heavy rain, gusty winds can blow at a speed of 30 to 40 km in some districts.

South Bengal Weather Alert

Scattered thunderstorms are expected in Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, East Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Nadia. Heavy to very heavy rain (7 to 20 cm) is likely in West Midnapore, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia and West Burdwan. Gusty winds at a speed of 30 to 40 kmph will accompany it. Heavy rain (7 to 11 cm) is likely in South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, East Burdwan and Birbhum.

The monsoon has entered multiple parts of Jharkhand and Bihar via Bengal and Odisha. The low pressure area over southwest Bangladesh has further intensified in the last 24 hours and has moved west-northwestwards. At present, it is located as a specific low pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal.

North Bengal Weather Alert

June 19: Heavy Rainfall (7-11 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Coochbehar and North Dinajpur districts of North Bengal. Thunderstorms with gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph), lightning and light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over Malda, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur, Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar districts of North Bengal.
