Bengaluru News: A 12-year-old boy from Andhra Pradesh lost his life on his birthday following a fatal accident in Bengaluru on Saturday night. The victim, identified as Bhanu Teja, was riding pillion on a motorcycle when a truck struck them from behind near Hennur Bande.
According to a Times Of India report, Teja, from Chittoor district, had come to Bengaluru to pursue Vedic studies and was staying at a temple in R T Nagar. He was celebrating his birthday at his cousin Chakradaran's home in Horamavu. Chakradaran, a 20-year-old temple priest, was driving the motorcycle and intended to return Teja to the temple that night, as he needed to open the temple early the next morning.

The incident occurred around 11:20 PM near Plama Heights at Hennur Cross. A canter truck, which was on its way to the Hennur Cross flyover, collided with their motorcycle, causing both riders to fall. Unfortunately, Teja was run over by the truck and died instantly, despite wearing a bicycle helmet, which did not protect him from the impact.
After the accident, the truck driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. Police have since seized the truck and discovered that the driver had been returning home after delivering cement bags. Authorities are working diligently to locate and apprehend the driver and the truck owner was contacted to ensure the driver surrenders.
Teja, the elder son of a farmer, had completed up to Class 6 before discontinuing his formal education to train as a priest, fulfilling his parents' wishes. Following a postmortem examination, his body was returned to his family for final rites.
